Whether you’re in the market for a new hobby, a fun date night idea, or want to add more homemade decor pieces to your home, you’ve come to the right place! Making your own wreath is so easy. Just follow our simple five-step guide, and you’ll be on your way to your very own burlap wreath in no time.

Step 1. Burlap Selection

A burlap wreath begins with the burlap itself. If you plan on adorning seasonally, then we recommend using plain burlap. If you’re looking to construct an accent piece, there are plenty of burlap roll color and pattern varieties to choose from! To make a standard 16” wreath, you’ll need about 12-15 yards.

Step 2. Wire Wreath Frame

The next step is to secure a wire wreath frame. There should be a few connected circles that make up the ring of the wreath. These bare wires wreaths look much different than the full, luscious forms they become when finished.

Step 3. Bob and Weave

It’s time to get your hands in there! This is when the wreath takes its shape. Take the burlap roll and begin to weave in and out of the connected rings of the wire wreath, leaving a nice little ‘bubble’ of burlap on top. The bubble gives the whole wreath a full look when completed. Weave all the way around the wireframe until complete.

This is perhaps the most fun step of the process!

Step 4. Insider Tips and Tricks

For an extra secure shape, use hot glue every so often to firmly hold the intended shape. Once your burlap has been interwoven in the wireframe, you can add any floral springs, bows, or other adornments to your wreath. Utilize the hot glue gun as you go.

Step 5. Enjoy!

Your DIY burlap wreath is now complete! Find a lovely place to hang your new creation, perhaps over a fireplace, in an entryway, or on a garden gate?

Add a Touch of Character

Burlap wreaths add character to your home’s decor. They can be accented with seasonal bow colors and floral sprigs to create a new look for each season. Burlap wreaths are also an easy way to incorporate a rustic feel into your special events. Use them as centerpieces in your tablescapes with gorgeous flameless candles in the middle for added effect.

These DIY wreaths also make great gifts for birthdays, holidays, housewarmings, and wedding gifts! Customize DIY burlap wreaths with a couple’s wedding day colors and initials. Add someone’s favorite flowers and gorgeous ribbon to finish off a ‘thinking of you’ gift. There are many ways burlap wreaths can bring joy for others and for yourself.

It all starts today with the decision to begin your own DIY burlap wreath project with supplies from TMI Gifts. Just follow the simple steps above, and most importantly, have fun! Happy crafting!
